Hospital patients are transferred from one hospital to a ground ambulance, then
to an air ambulance. This is done carefully and quickly. Medical crews ride with the patient in the
ground ambulance and either go with the patient on the flight, or are
transferred to the appropriate medical flight crews who are waiting with the
plane. After the flight, the patient is transported by ground ambulance to the
other hospital.
